When we talk about herbal cleansing and changes to your diet, these are things that can put your body and mind under some stress at first. That’s why its always best, if you have the time and money, to do your cleansing treatment on holiday.
It is so much easier to stick to a Detox plan if you’re waking up a beautiful, sandy beach in Thailand or a crisp river valley in Austria, rather than the hustle and bustle of the city. Wake up in a cabin on a long stretch of beach, have massages throughout the day and watch the sun set over the twinkling lights of small fishing boats in the evening. Yes Thailand really is that amazing! It was my favorite cleansing destination for years when I worked in Asia, and with cheap air travel it is now more and more accessible from around the world.
I would recommend the Chiang Mai area in Northern Thailand for its peace and tranquility – try the Chedi resort in particular. The wonderful hospitality of the Thai people and the unique cultural experience of Thailand’s cultural capital make for an amazing retreat.
Try one of the beautiful resorts around Lake Worth, high in the Carinthian mountains. Or alternatively the Styrian Hot Springs area with its warm pools, healing mineral waters and regenerative atmosphere.
Looking for something more adventurous in your spa holiday? Why not go to South Africa and combine it with a safari! Spend your days tracking exotic wild animals through the Eco Reserve, then relax at night to massages and unique African therapies.
If you’re looking for the best, then try the Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve. Frequented by people such as Nelson Mandela and Anna Kournikova, this is the best spa resort in South Africa and offers safari trips that you’ll never forget!
How about something a bit closer to home for our American readers? In Tucson, Arizona, lies one of the best spa resorts in the world – in fact it has been ranked #1 by Conde Naste Travel for the past 3 years!
The Miraval Spa offers Ayurvedic treatments, acupuncture, Chi Nei Tsang, Shiatsu, Jin Shin Jyutsu and Trager as well as a host of other traditional and more exotic options to rejuvenate your body and mind. Try one of the private whirlpools after your massage to get yourself really relaxed!
